ACME boy scouts whistle

This is a ACME boy scouts whistle. These were introduced in 1908 and were considered an essential part of the scouts uniform. They were endorsed by scout founder Baden-Powell. They were and still are produced by J Hudson & Co of Birmingham, whistle makers since 1870.
This cracking example is a very early one as evidenced the "pillar top" design, the word "PATENT" and the number 540164. Apparently this means it was produced between 1908 and 1922.
In very good, ear piercing condition. It whistles very loudly... snd since when have you EVER seen an ACME product outside of a Roadrunner cartoon.
