Here is a fish. Here is a bowl. Here is a blue glass bowl fashioned as a fish.
This fish is unmarked so impossible to positively attribute... however, this fishes aesthetic & technical characteristics are strongly reminiscent of authenticated Munrano art glass.
Thls fish is hand-blown and probably dates to the 1960s and this fish is finished to an exceptionally high standard.
The following features particularly stand out:
The base is highly polished, a sure sign of high end work.
The strong cobalt blue colour is an example of saturated graduation, where the colour begins deeply then fades slightly, before returning strongly again at the rim.
The eye has been created separately and applied when the glass is molton and although difficult to show in the photos the eye is actually made from clear glass.
Unusually for a piece of this size the fish is virtually free of inclusions or seed bubbles.
Like the base the fish has been polished to perfection.
The fish is very substantial. It 22 cms from lip to tail tip & 17cm from top to bottom & 5 cms tall from base. It weighs in at a whopping 908 grams.
All this points the fish firmly in the direction of Murano, but, as already mentioned, without any mark we cannot be 100% certain.
Either way this a wonderful piece of beautiful & unique Mid Century Modern art glass ...
And apart from a little expected shelf wear on the base, this fish is in pristine condition.
