An absolutely stunning Mell Decanter dating from the late Georgian regency/William III period Circa 1820 - 1830
Taking their name from Malmsey wine which was a popular fortified wine during the Georgian era.
In a very difficult to find in a deep deep amethyst colour, as opposedto the more usual (but still relatively rare) clear or amber models. Sadly, this one has lost it stopper, which is reflected in the price. (With the stopper it would be priced at 3 times what it is today)
Still a stunning piece of early 19th century glass, in onion form which would make a truly beautiful vase for some choice blooms.
