A stunning mid-century Sommerso glass basket vase, hand-blown in vivid turquoise and aqua tones. Likely made on the island of Murano, Italy, in the manner of Seguso Vetri d’Arte, this sculptural piece captures the elegance and innovation of 1960s Venetian glass design.

The vase’s fluid, organic shape features twin pulled handles that meet gracefully at the top, flowing seamlessly from its thick, clear base. The colour depth is achieved through the Sommerso (“submerged”) technique — a layer of coloured glass encased within clear crystal, producing dazzling clarity and light refraction.

Weighing nearly 2 kg and standing approximately 26 cm tall, it has real presence while retaining a sense of balance and movement. The base is smoothly polished and concave, a hallmark of high-quality Murano craftsmanship. In excellent condition, free from chips or cracks, with only minor base wear expected for its age.

Perfect as a collector’s showpiece or a statement décor accent, this vase embodies the artistry and craftsmanship that made Murano glass world famous.
