Meet the cat who knows exactly what you’ve done wrong — and is quietly judging you for it. This wonderfully expressive mid-century ceramic feline sits in dignified silence, every curve of his turquoise-green glaze whispering “I expected better.”
Hand-cast in earthenware with a soft celadon-meets-seafoam glaze, his mellow golden accents catch the light like afternoon sun on a windowsill. The modelling is superbly stylised — that heavy-lidded gaze, the slightly pursed mouth, the faintly disapproving tilt of the head. You can almost hear the internal monologue:
> “You call that pouring milk?”
“That’s my cushion.”
“I preferred the other sofa.”
Despite his lofty demeanour, he’s utterly endearing — a cat with gravitas, but also a certain vulnerable charm. The sculptor has captured that rare blend of feline serenity and subtle exasperation known only to true cat people.
Light in hand for his 21 cm stature (595 g), this piece was likely made in the 1950s–60s by a European art pottery studio. The glaze is beautifully nuanced, flecked with mossy gold and sky-green tones, and the unglazed base bears the honest signs of mid-century casting.
Dimensions: 21 cm tall
Weight: 595 g
Condition: Excellent – no chips, cracks, or restoration.
Origin: Probably Continental Europe, circa 1950–1970
Whether you see him as philosopher, critic, or house deity, this is one cat who owns the room – and, very possibly, your heart.
