Here is a thumping great lump of hand made Scottish art glass from the Caithness studio. Featuring the classic Caithness etched foliage pattern.
This work was hand-blown in the early 1970s and with its striking amethyst colour and delightful baluster shape is a fine example of "Mid Century Modern" design.
Caithness Glass was founded in 1961 by Robin Sinclair in Wick Scotland and finally & sadly went into receivership in 2002. In 2006 it was bought by Dartington Crystal and continues to make small paperweights ...but well, you know, its not the same...
This magnificent and substantial opus stands an impressive 10 inches tall, 6 inches across its widest point and 4 inches across its base and mouth. It weighs over 2lbs.
