A sizzling piece of striking cobalt blue glass in the form of this handkerchief vase. Almost certainly produced in Italy, in the 1950s but it is unmarked and this makes positive attribution virtually impossible. Hence "Murano school". Its strong blue colour and highly organic shape exemplifies the MCM movement and the glass work of Murano.
Although it is called a handkerchief vase because of the way the ruffled wavy rim appears like folded, draped cloth, to me it looks like someones thrown a big stone into a crystal blue pool and this vase is the resulting splash.
