From the celebrated Ekenas Glasbruk glassworks of Ekenässjön, Sweden (founded in 1917, ceased production in 1976), comes this exquisite Mid-Century Modern studio glass vase designed by the renowned artistic director John-Orwar Lake (1921–2007).
Produced during the 1960s, this elegant footed bud vase features Lake’s signature clean Scandinavian lines and impeccable balance of form and colour. The body is beautifully blown in a vibrant aqua blue that catches and reflects light with subtle intensity, tapering gracefully into a clear pedestal foot.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. There is a small internal manufacturing imperfection on the inner rim — minute and virtually imperceptible, mentioned only for accuracy.
Dimensions:
Height 20 cm
Width 9.5 cm (widest point)
Rim diameter 3.5 cm
Foot diameter 7 cm
Pieces like this are becoming increasingly scarce and are now rarely seen on the open market. Most surviving examples reside in private or museum collections, making this a desirable opportunity for collectors of Swedish and Scandinavian modern glass.
Price note:
This vase is attractively priced to reflect its excellent condition, elegant form, and growing scarcity. Comparable examples by John-Orwar Lake for Ekenas Glasbruk have been listed and sold at significantly higher prices in international markets. Offered here at a fair and realistic collector’s price to encourage quick acquisition and appreciation.
