Scandinavian Art Glass Blue Sommerso footed Bud Vase.

This footed bud vase is from the Ekenas Glasbruk glassworks in the village of Ekenässjön in Sweden. The works were founded in1917 and ceased all trading and production by 1976.

This absolutely stunning piece of Mid Century  Modern studio glass was designed by renowned artistic director John-Orwar Lake (1921-2007) and was produced throughout the 1960s.

In very good vintage condition. There is a manufacturing imperfection on the inside of the rim. Tiny and imperceptible and mentioned purely for the sake of accuracy. 

These vase are becoming increasingly more and more difficult to find and are now rarely seen on the open market. One must assume that the majority of those surviving are now in collections, both private and museums...😊

20 cms tall. 9.5 cms at widest point. 3.5 cms diameter at rim. 7 cms diameter at foot.
