Here is charming and original stoneware salt glaze utensils pot.
Not particularly unusual as they were produced in their 1000s but non the less possessing the charm and the functionality of a bygone age. This is, I believe, both useful & beautiful...the very best of both antique worlds - and this is a genuine antique, well over 100 year old and undoubtedly dating from the last quarter of the 19th century.
This one has the added charm of 2 small underglaze creases/dimples, pushed into the clay before firing, clearly by accident, I think someone (probably an apprentice) carelessly put their tea mug down right next to the wet pot and the handle of their mug left 2 small dents, the're exactly at mug handle height,...they obviously hoped no one notice and went ahead and fired it anyway. We have tried to show this in the photos, but it's not that clear.
This one has never been used for anything other than a utensil pot and is perfect condition inside and out.
A lovely and practical antique.
8 inches tall and 6 inches across.
